Islamic Media Ethics in the Digital Age

This project, Islamic Media Ethics in the Digital Age: AI-Powered Solutions for Combating Misinformation and Promoting Constructive Cross-Cultural Dialogue, addresses misinformation, algorithmic bias, and digital polarization through an interdisciplinary framework that brings together Islamic media ethics, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing.

Rather than relying on narrowly techno-solutionist models, the project develops culturally grounded and practically deployable interventions that are sensitive to religious diversity and social context.

Its key deliverables include an AI-powered Islamic fact-checking system that builds on QCRI’s expertise in Arabic NLP and is trained on authentic sources and intercultural ethical frameworks to counter misinformation responsibly. The project also advances a digital literacy campaign that integrates Islamic values with AI-enhanced educational tools to strengthen media literacy and support more constructive cross-cultural engagement across communities.
